Ribes janczewskii Pojark.

Yanchevsky currant is a shrub, a plant species of the genus Currant (Ribes) Ribes janczewskii Pojark. Gooseberry family (Grossulariaceae), growing in gorges and valleys of mountain rivers in the mountains of Central Asia (Tien Shan, Pamir-Alai). It grows in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan.

Deciduous shrub up to 1 m high. The shoots are glabrous or diffusely pubescent, the young ones are golden in color, later they become dirty yellow.

The leaves are large (up to 15 cm in diameter), five-lobed with large, sharp blades and a heart-shaped base. The leaf blade is bare and shiny on both sides. The edges of the leaf are coarse-toothed.

It blooms in June. Inflorescences are brushes directed horizontally or upwards with slightly pubescent axes, up to 5 cm long, bearing five to ten bell—shaped flesh-colored flowers up to 12 mm long. The sepals are blunt, the petals are broadly oval. The flowers are slightly pubescent and glandular on the outside.

The fruits are black berries up to 13 mm in diameter, fragrant, ripen in August.

It is of interest for use as a fruit (due to large fragrant berries) and decorative (due to large beautiful leaves) plant. This species participated in the creation of the currant variety ‘Muravushka’ by crossing the Yanchevsky currant, ‘Belarusian sweet’, ‘Ruffled’.
